Dr. Monte, Your podcasts are enjoyable. I got hooked when you were on a previous site and would go in depth into health reports and journal articles, then give your well-researched overview.

Have you read "The Obesity Myth"(published 2004) by Paul Campos? Am currently at page 66. I used to work in the Biometry Office of the NIH, where there was great focus on eliminating bias from clinical trials. One of my bosses was the developer of a widely used statistical measurement. Campos asserts that the WHO and NIH panels of that time consisted exclusively of doctors and psychologists who have dedicated their practice to weight loss. Independently of this book, I have read articles which use Framingham Heart Study information to show that above average weight in women over 60 has a better health and longevity advantage than being underweight.

Campos suggests that the weight loss/weight gain cycle is more damaging than being somewhat overweight.
Campos also asserts that being underweight, whether fit or not decreases healthiness and lifespan.

My guess is that the body needs to incorporate certain food elements and underweight people seem to not do this. Overweight people who do not eat a balanced diet would also fail at getting the required nutrition.

Have you already commented on this?

Thanks for casting a skeptical eye at overhyped "medical information".

Would really lighten my day to get another podcast from you sir. Seems almost a void now with so many of the veteran podcasters out there closing the shutters.

It would be great if Mr. Clinton actually got the message and shared it in a meaningful way. My dad is currently suffering with the effects of type 2 diabetes. His drs tell him they don't know why he is having trouble. Any comments I have on changes in lifestyle fall on deaf ears because I'm not a doctor. It makes me so sad that doctors have all this perceived authority but it gets misused in their attempts to pacify their patients. Thanks for being a doc who tells it like it is.

Dr Monty, these are good videos. Thanks for an informative but concise message I can share with those who friends & family who need it most. So many people just don't realize they are being duped into a terrible, harmful lifestyle by the food industry. There aren't advocates of healthy foods competing against this multi-billion dollar industry. I like the videos but I sure hope you can get some more podcasts out, too.
